Each year, I declare a theme for myself to help focus my decisions. I was walking through Homesense the other day looking for wine glasses and came across a great canvas. I snapped a photo of it because the message was succinct and expressed what I had been struggling to put into words. SHOULD, WOULD and COULD were all written down, but all were crossed out. The remaining word was DID.

I ended my last post with a life toast: “Here’s to more gratitude in 2016 while doing more of what you love.” That’s going to be my focus for the year. Doing more of what I love, and appreciating every minute of it. 2016 is going to be about taking action, and not putting off things that I’ve wanted to do. So what is it that I love to do? Travel and learn whatever it is I can about the world around me. This is not news, but my aim is to combine this along with my other loves of hiking and a healthy lifestyle. For the last month I’ve been re-aligning my blog and social media with this goal in mind:
To travel as much as I can, hiking to incredible destinations, and staying fit at home and on the road.
Of course, I have family and relationship priorities, career considerations, and all those other life commitments that happen. But otherwise, I’ll be focusing on my passions.
As for specific goals, I usually write down a bunch at the start of the year, but in 2015, I said yes to opportunities for which I had not planned. That’s not a bad thing at all! I may not have crossed off many items on the list, but what does that matter if I was enjoying experiences and pursuing the things I wanted to pursue. So this year, I’ve decided to be more open and let my goals be flexible with shorter 90 day timelines. You hearing me, Universe? Throw me some interesting things this year and I’m open to playing ball.
Whatever it is you decide to do, change, improve, pursue, or learn this year, do it with heart and fully enjoy every moment of it.

I’m looking forward to seeing where tour new adventures take you. I love “Do it with heart and fully enjoy every moment of it.” I try to live by this but sometimes forget how to. Here’s to remembering more frequently in 2016!
Great post and I agree, focus on the things you love and are passionate about. I will be trying to balance all personal goals with life goals as well this year! As Robbie says, look forward to seeing where the adventures take you.
